Dr. Joanne Isabela Franks
PhD, LPC Supervisor, Gottman Method Couples Therapy
Joanne is a psychotherapist and owner of Painted Reality Counseling and Wellness. She obtained her doctorate in marriage and family therapy from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth Texas.
Joanne likens the therapeutic process to unfiltered and courageous storytelling. She believes that our unique life stories define who we are and hold the key to self-understanding. Whether it’s the stories we tell ourselves, the stories we’ve been told and believe, or the unfinished, unexplored stories we have yet to discover, our personal history shapes us.
In a warm, safe, and genuine environment, Joanne invites clients to explore and reconnect with their life stories, uncovering how these narratives influence their current emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. Her straightforward and authentic interventions help clients understand themselves more deeply and become authors of their ongoing narrative. Together, client and therapist work towards gently rewriting the client's story in a way that feels true, allowing past, present, and future to coexist harmoniously.
Joanne utilizes Gottman Method Couples Therapy to support healthy growth and improve relationships.

Welcome! I’m Jasmine Cantu, a dedicated therapist committed to fostering accessibility and compassion in counseling and healthcare. My approach to therapy is eclectic, drawing from person-centered, feminist, and systemic theories. My ideal clients are those who are navigating the intersections of trauma, disability, and identity and seek a therapeutic space where their experiences are honored, and where they can explore their identities and challenges in an empowering environment. If you resonate with these aspects of my practice, I would be honored to support you in your journey.
Feminist and systemic theory informs my practice by highlighting the importance of social and cultural context and power dynamics in understanding individual experiences. I trust in my client’s experience, and I work to build a strong therapeutic relationship that fosters trust, empathy, and genuine understanding.
I aim to create a supportive, empathetic environment where clients feel understood and empowered. Whether you’re navigating the impacts of trauma, living with a disability, or seeking recovery from substance use, I am here to provide compassionate care and collaborative support.

I've taught early childhood education since 1993! I loved my 6 years teaching first grade, but when my second child was born, I decided to stay home and teach preschool from home. My preschool grew, and I eventually hired an assistant and added kindergarten, and began creating educational resources to sell. With a family relocation, I "retired" from teaching... for a few months. I missed the children, so went to work at my local library creating and delivering story times and activities. Another interstate move later, and I'm tutoring and helping children learn to read and to enjoy math. Who knows where else education will take me?!
Young children are eager to engage with the world around them, and they learn from all the experiences they encounter. They are avid learners, constantly developing mentally, physically, emotionally and socially. Children need and deserve our respect, and must in turn be taught to respect others and the world around them. When we engage children in rich experiences and make learning joyful, they learn to love learning, and become lifelong learners. To this end we must provide learning materials and experiences that are engaging and meaningful to the child. Those materials must be varied, and may include books, computers, hands on experiences, toys, games, and time in natural environments.
